INSPIRED BY 80s BASKETBALL. REBUILT FOR TODAY. THESE DETAILS BRING ATTITUDE, COMFORT, AND LONGEVITY TO EVERY STEP.
Durable Full-Grain Leather
Crafted from premium leather, the MBs are made to take hits and keep it moving. No plastic coatings, no shortcuts—just real leather that softens with time and develops character with every step.
Breaks in, Not Down
These kicks only get better with time. The Morro Bay was built to age with you—breaking in naturally, not breaking down. The longer you rock them, the more yours they feel.

First time ordering from 1587- I think the panda MBs are good shoes:
+ I think they have a great weight, construction, and they didn't need to be broken in or fall apart after a busy weekend in SoCal (Driving, walking around LA, Knott's Berry Farm).
-The shoe fit is a bit tight, but the toe box doesn't seem to suffocate my feet. Not sure how I feel about the laces, I was worried they'd be a bit short when I changed the lacing pattern.
I'm hoping they'll hold up for a long time. Would consider a future purchase.
When I first slipped my feet into the shoes to try them out, I immediately felt that I have found shoes that were made for my feet. I have been enjoying the comfort and the style.
Just received my second pair. Same size, same color black, same comfort. This is going to be my “go to” shoes for any day or time. DEK

If expectation was amazing and they were exceptional, we agree :). Thanks for the feedback!
Perfect fit, true to size. I had a question and customer service was awesome. These sneakers are super comfy, no break in period needed. Love them and will be ordering more!!!

Thanks for complementing our Customer service team! They do an amazing job- they answer at all hours, have funny quips, and correct info. Thank you for believing in our mission and product!
I love these shoes but they are not the unreal quality that they boast. I've worn mine twice and they already have the pucker on the toe. Same thing with my last pair. They wear like any other sneaker but cost 2-3 x as much
These shoes have a great fit and are good looking. I was looking forward to a lightweight shoe with quality materials - this shoe fell slightly short in both categories - however, at the $100 price point, it’s hard to complain too much about small issues - especially since this is an Asian American startup company.
First of all I’m proud to support an Asian owned business and truth be told it took a “sale” to entice me to try them out. I first bought the sneakers in both white and black. I wore a pair to work the next day and was surprised that they were as comfortable at the end of the day as when I first put them on in the morning, no “breaking in” period. I have since bought the LNY Snake sweat pants and a 1/4 zip as well and look forward to purchasing on the future.
I was pleasantly surprised how cushiony the foot bed was. The sole has good grip, although I would not walk through a greasy floor, I feel confident walking on wet ground for a short distance.
They fit great and were immediately comfortable. I have had long days standing and walking in them and have been impressed by how comfy they are. Love how they look!
My second pair and these feel amazing. I was walking through an outdoor Christmas market and got a few compliments. My only problem is that I ordered them before your big sale hit! Bad timing on my part.
Love supporting an AAPI business. Wifey loves the clean look. I normally wear Hokas. Comfy but fugly.
The 1587s are clearly sleeker and still comfy. Have two more pair on order.
It'll be nice to have a more elegant but comfy signature style with the 1587s.
Looking forward to a long relationship with 1587.
The Yellow Thread shoes are my go-to for daily work shoes now. Due to ankle injuries a few years ago and managing ongoing pain, my shoe options changed a lot. I can walk up to 5 miles in a day comfortably in these shoes—that is not always the case in other sports shoes. I keep a couple pairs of the Yellow Threads in rotation so I don’t wear out just one pair.
Looks is great and like that laces dont get too dirty. The sizing is still a bit big though I ordered true to size. Otherwise would’ve given this 5 stars!
I ordered the shoes, didn't like them as much when I received and submitted a request for sending them back for refund! Been almost 5 days and no one has bothered to look into this.
I’ve been wearing my Yellow Thread Sumi Blacks off and on a bit to see if the shoe needed breaking in, but noticing some quality problems I don’t see in less expensive shoes.
Prior to this, I purchased the AP87 Lucky Red sneakers and loved them. Despite a crease appearing over the right toe box area, it is a beautiful shoe.
I cannot say the same about these Yellow Thread Sumi Black. While the leather is gorgeous, the size runs tighter and a bit smaller. Also, the right shoe’s heel area feels “loose” between the bottom insole and the sole of the shoe. It squeaks when walking and the heel “sticks”—it’s an odd feeling. I was hoping the build quality would be similar to the non-China made versions. I was hoping to get a few pair as gifts, but now debating.
I’m considering purchasing AP87 Sumi Black to replace my Yellow Thread Sumi Black, but hesitant to do so.
Opening the box when I got them was like opening a birthday present! As a Transracial, Transnational Korean Adoptee growing up in predominantly White spaces, there was very little to none Asian representation in the community and society at large. To be able to proudly wear shoes from an Asian owned business felt like what I needed growing up. I got to wear them to the Korean Consulate in Chicago (see photos) and to a restaurant owned by a Korean chef where I had a Korean breakfast beforehand.
Thank you for your mission to honor the Asian American legacy and to “empower Asian Americans to be unapologetically themselves.” I definitely felt that in my sneakers!
My second pair of Yellow Thread Sumi 1587s! I wanted another to keep in rotation so I don’t quickly wear out my other pair. They are so much more comfortable than other shoes I was advised to wear due to traumatic arthritis. These keep me moving and they are versatile-I even wore them to the Opera!
These are one of the most comfortable sneakers I've purchased. Walked all over Seoul in them and they not only protected my feet well but were extremely comfortable and held up, rain or shine. Highly recommend these. Proudly Asian.
