Why is Italian Full Grain leather and natural rubber important?
Full grain leather will look amazing for a lifetime. It resists creases and warping, and can be easily cleaned with a cloth and water. Natural rubber is incredibly soft and durable, and has a high rebound rate so it keeps its shape over thousands of miles. Commercial sneakers from big brands use cheap and hard leather covered in plastic paint (to hide imperfections), and this causes deep creasing and cracks over time. Their rubber is a thin and hard synthetic that isn’t comfortable and loses its shape in a matter of months.
What makes the sneakers luxury?
Luxury is in the details. We use waxed laces that stay clean and crisp, full-grain leather that ages beautifully, and natural rubber that's both comfy and biodegradable. Every pair is handcrafted by world-class artisans in Italy.
Do the sneakers require a break-in period?
Our sneakers mold to your feet and wear in beautifully—that’s the power of real full-grain leather and natural rubber. No break in needed and they get comfy with each wear.
How do they fit—should I size up or down?
AP87 and Morro Bay run about half a size large for both men and women. If you are a 10 or 10.5, size down to a 10. if 10.5 to 11, go with the 11!
How do I care for my shoes to keep them looking fresh?
A gentle wipe with a damp cloth is all you need. The full-grain leather naturally resists staining and ages beautifully, and allows easy cleaning. Crappy leather stains easily!!
What makes 1587 different from other sneaker brands?
We tell authentic AAPI stories unapologetically, and give proceeds back to the community.

1587 is the year Asians arrived in America. We want to remind people we have been here for 400+ years and we aren't going anywhere!

We ship domestically across the U.S. w/ USPS and UPS. Most orders go out in 24 hours!
